Mars to Chambersburg- Friday, 2 June 2017

Back to Chambersburg and Wilson for Reunion (not mine) Weekend and the June AAWC Board meeting. Left Mars about 8:20 this morning and made it to campus in just about 3 hours. Great to see friends and chat.

Had lunch with some of the college staff. Wonderful salad and pasta bar. The pasta bar prepared proteins, vegetables, and sauce to order. I passed on the pasta and had sautéed vegetables and shrimp. It was my understanding that there is a different kind of made to order bar every week during the school year.

After lunch joined 6 other alum for a trip to Rocky Springs Presbyterian Church and the burial place of Sarah Wilson, major benefactor of the college. I had not been there since senior year in college when a group of us went out to "celebrate" with Aunt Sarah. We had a brief chat about the church with a DAR representative and then a walk through the cemetery.

On our way back to campus we passed one of the distinctive brick end barns. They are common in Franklin County and so interesting.

Back at campus, I worked the AAWC raffle table for 3 1/2 hours and then headed over for the picnic dinner. Ate with some board members and Barbara Mistick, president of the college. On the way to the car, I met a '67 grad. I had remembered her from my freshman year. In the small world department her husband was the minister at my home church in Pittsburgh. He left the year before I was married there.

Back to the Holiday Inn Express to write my Social Media report for the NHG Board meeting and watching the Pirate game. What a wild one that was. A lead and then the Mets came back to take the lead. But the lumber company prevailed and the Bucs won 12-7.

Off to bed for a good night's sleep, I hope.
